This comparison was checked in October 2026 against Bookem’s public pricing page at https://bookem.co.za/pricing and against Reach + Within’s South African pricing. Both products are discussed here in rands. This note does not use Bookem’s logo. It does not claim that Bookem submits medical-aid claims. The Bookem page we read listed an electronic medical record, prescriptions and referrals on the Medical tier. It did not, in the text we relied on, describe medical-aid switching.
Reach + Within for therapists and group practices in South Africa is from R500 a month per clinician. Admin, finance and management users are free. Medical aid claims are coming soon. They are not live. Rehabs and treatment centres are quoted, with no public rehab price.
What Bookem published
On 4 October 2026 https://bookem.co.za/pricing showed:
- Core: R200 a month, up to 3 bookable members, R65 for an extra member. SMS R0.92.
- Plus: R650 a month, up to 3 bookable members, R200 for an extra member. The page described invoicing, Yoco and forms.
- Premium AI Assist: R995 a month, up to 3 bookable members, R315 for an extra member, with AI scribing and a credit allowance the page described as 173 plus 57 AI credits.
- Medical: R1,495 a month, 1 bookable member, R500 per extra member, with an EMR, EMGuidance AES prescriptions and referrals.
Admin and reception were described as free. Bookem’s prices are Bookem’s. Check the page again before you sign, including what a “bookable member” counts.
An earlier note that put a medical tier at R500 per member is out of date against the page above. The Medical plan we read was R1,495 for one bookable member, plus R500 for each extra member.
What we publish
From R500 a month per clinician. A clinician is someone who writes clinical notes. A receptionist is not charged as a clinician. The system is Reach and Within together: enquiries, onboarding, bookings and invoices, and the clinical file. Assist drafts a session note from a recording only after the client has agreed. You review and sign. Assist does not diagnose.
Included: role-based access, an audit trail, secure family report links for an approved report, and PA booking and billing without access to the note. Sign-in with a second factor is coming soon. Outcome scales are coming soon. Medical aid claims are coming soon. We do not claim electronic prescriptions, Yoco, or a live medical-scheme submission. Client data is hosted in the EU (Netherlands). You remain the responsible party under POPIA. We do not claim a POPIA or HPCSA certification.
The trial for therapists and group practices is 30 days with demo clients and no card.
Where Bookem is a better fit
Choose Bookem if the entry price matters and Core at R200 a month for up to three bookable members is enough. Choose Plus if you want the invoicing, Yoco and forms they list at R650. Choose Premium if AI scribing with a published credit allowance at R995 is the feature you will use. Choose Medical if you need the EMR, EMGuidance AES prescriptions and referrals they list, and you can pay R1,495 plus R500 per extra bookable member. A practice that must prescribe from the same system this year should not wait on a roadmap. Bookem’s Medical tier is the better fit for that job as published in October 2026.
Where Reach + Within is a better fit
Choose Reach + Within if the job is a private caseload or a group practice that wants one record from the enquiry to the signed note, with the front desk unable to open the note, and if you can wait for medical aid claims. From R500 a month per clinician is higher than Bookem Core. It is the price of the connected record, not of a booking page alone. Psychologists, registered counsellors and social workers in private practice can read the profession pages linked below. A treatment centre should use the quote page, which has no fee on it.

How to decide
Count bookable members on Bookem’s definition and clinicians on ours. They may differ. If prescriptions or the Medical EMR are essential now, shortlist Bookem and confirm the live price. If the gap is double entry between the diary, the note and the invoice, trial Reach + Within on demo clients. The South African price, and only that price, is on pricing.
